This is indeed a valid point if here is a positive benefit to one's ego if one is accepted then even if H=0 one may propose.
I tried to make it as simple as possible. This was just a blog post at the end of the day which used little bit of economics and the purpose was a little bit of entertainment.
I though of extending it. But yo think this is an appropriate place for that? If...Interesting try. But the results are obvious.

If H is the positive benefit from getting accepted then surely the benefit that accrues from not getting accepted is 0+N -- i.e. you do not get H (back to zero) plus your ego gets bruised.

Wonder whether there is a positive benefit to one's ego if one is accepted. In that case even if H=0 one may propose.

Why not impose costs -- have these been going up or down over time?Siddhartha Mitranoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6584926327962176062.post-44826288064729786832011-02-22T20:18:38.583-08:002011-02-22T20:18:38.583-08:00Hmm..Nice one..Hmm..Nice one..priyadarsini sahoohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07571838042938741879noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6584926327962176062.post-36235061802269847682011-02-21T20:35:12.650-08:002011-02-21T20:35:12.650-08:00Thanks Guys!!!Thanks Guys!!!Chandan Kumar Jhahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13407200430912516728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6584926327962176062.post-29097829860159678962011-02-21T20:21:49.947-08:002011-02-21T20:21:49.947-08:00Yeah, that is pretty sweet, man.
